The breach of a whale above the surface of the ocean is one of the majesties of nature and also one of its greatest mysteries…until now. Two VCOE Career Education Center instructors were part of a CSU Channel Islands study that revealed the reason whales breach. Brothers Alan and Ryan Jaeger operated a special waterproof drone off the coast of Maui that provided critical imagery of the whales that were being monitored for the study. The Jaegers teach high school students to build and operate unmanned aerial vehicles at the Career Education Center.
